Terms of Use
App: Shar Pei Effective date: May 29, 2026 Last updated: May 29, 2026
By downloading, installing, or using the Shar Pei app (“the App”), you agree to these Terms of Use (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on iOS devices that you own or control, in accordance with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions and these Terms.
2. What the App does
Shar Pei is a network diagnostics tool. It displays information about your device’s current network connection — connection type, Wi-Fi network name, IP addresses, DNS servers, the default gateway, and network interfaces — and measures reachability, latency, and stability by performing TCP connection checks against well-known public endpoints. All of this is for your own informational use on your own device.
3. Acceptable use
You agree to use the App lawfully and only on devices and networks you own or are authorized to use. You agree not to:
- use the App in violation of any applicable law;
- attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, except to the extent permitted by applicable law;
- remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices.
You are solely responsible for your use of the App and for any consequences that arise from it.
4. Informational purpose only — no guarantee
Shar Pei is an informational tool. The values it shows describe observable properties of your network at the time of measurement and are provided “as is” without any warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose.
Latency, stability, and reachability readings depend on conditions outside our control (your device, your network, and the public endpoints contacted) and may vary or be inaccurate. You should not rely on the App as your sole means of evaluating a network, and you should not use it to make decisions where errors could result in harm.
5. Third-party services
To measure reachability and latency, the App makes direct outbound connections from your device to publicly available endpoints — by default the public DNS resolvers operated by Cloudflare (1.1.1.1), Google (8.8.8.8), and Quad9 (9.9.9.9). We do not control those services and make no representations about their availability, accuracy, or terms.
6. Price
The App is provided free of charge. It contains no in-app purchases, subscriptions, advertising, or paid features.
7. Intellectual property
The App, its source code, design, trademarks, and content are owned by the developer and are protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not transfer any ownership rights to you.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE DEVELOPER BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE APP. OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED USD 10.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it.
11. Changes to the Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the developer’s place of residence, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. To the extent mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence apply, those laws shall prevail.
