How do I add the Owlkey keyboard?

  1. Open the iOS Settings app.
  2. Go to General → Keyboard → Keyboards.
  3. Tap Add New Keyboard… and choose Owlkey under Third-Party Keyboards.

How do I turn on Allow Full Access, and why is it needed?

In Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards, tap Owlkey, turn on Allow Full Access and confirm with Allow.

iOS gives a keyboard network access and lets it read data from its own app only with Full Access. Owlkey needs it to send text for AI edits when you tap a preset, and to use the presets, languages, settings and Pro status you set up in the app. The iOS warning is generic: Owlkey never records or sends your keystrokes, and text leaves your device only when you tap a preset. The Privacy Policy has the details.

Without Full Access you can still type with Owlkey, but AI edits are unavailable. The notice in the keyboard has a button that opens iOS Settings so you can turn it on.

How do I switch to Owlkey while typing?

Tap the globe key to move to the next keyboard, or touch and hold it to pick Owlkey from the list. iOS remembers your choice for the next time you type.

Why does iOS sometimes show its own keyboard instead?

iOS always uses the system keyboard in password fields and some other secure fields, and a few apps block third-party keyboards altogether. Owlkey returns as soon as you move to a regular text field.

How do AI presets work?

Select the text you want to change — or select nothing to edit the text in the current field — then tap a preset in the row above the keys. Check the suggestion and tap Replace; Undo puts your original back. Each edit can be up to 4,000 characters.

AI edits need an internet connection, Full Access, your permission for AI processing in the Owlkey app and an active Owlkey Pro subscription.

Can I create my own presets?

Yes. In the Owlkey app, add a custom preset with a name of up to 24 characters and an instruction of up to 300 characters — for example “Make it shorter” or “Translate into Spanish”. You can keep up to 12 custom presets, and they appear in the keyboard next to the built-in ones. Presets you don’t use can be turned off.

Which languages are supported?

The keyboard has typing layouts for English, Russian, Ukrainian, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian, Danish, Polish, Turkish and Arabic. Choose and order them on the Languages screen in the Owlkey app.

AI edits work with text in any language, and the result stays in the language of your text unless your custom instruction asks for another one.

It says the daily limit is reached

A daily fair-use limit keeps the service fast for everyone. AI edits resume the next day; typing is not affected.

How do I turn reminders on or off?

Owlkey sends reminders only if you allow them — about finishing keyboard setup, before Owlkey Pro ends, and occasional Owlkey Pro offers. Turn them on or off in Owlkey → Settings → Reminders.

How do I restore my purchase?

On a new or reset device, open the Owlkey app, go to the Pro screen — the first row in Settings — and tap Restore. Use the same Apple Account you subscribed with.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Open Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Owlkey Pro and tap Cancel Subscription, or go to apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid the next charge; Pro stays active until the end of the paid period. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
