Terms of Use

Owlkey — AI Keyboard

Effective date: 25 September 2026

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Owlkey iOS app and the Owlkey keyboard extension (together, “Owlkey”), provided by Bohdan Beschetnikov (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using Owlkey you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use Owlkey.

1. The service

Owlkey is a keyboard for iPhone and iPad with built-in AI editing. Typing with the keyboard is free. When you tap an AI preset, the selected text — or the text in the current field — is sent to the Owlkey server, which uses OpenAI’s API to rewrite it and returns the result as a suggestion you can place into the field. AI edits need an internet connection, Allow Full Access turned on for the keyboard, your permission for AI processing in the Owlkey app, and an active Owlkey Pro subscription. How your text is handled is described in the Privacy Policy.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Owlkey. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Owlkey only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these Terms on your behalf.

3. Licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Owlkey on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. You may not copy, sell, rent, sublicense, decompile or reverse-engineer Owlkey, except where applicable law expressly allows it.

4. Owlkey Pro subscriptions

5. Refunds

All purchases are processed by Apple, and refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies. We cannot issue refunds. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

6. Fair use and limits

Owlkey Pro is intended for personal, interactive use. To keep the service reliable for everyone, each AI edit is limited to 4,000 characters, and a daily fair-use limit applies to the number of AI edits. When the daily limit is reached, AI edits pause until the next day; typing keeps working. We may adjust these limits to prevent abuse. Automated, scripted or bulk use, and sharing access to the service with others, are not permitted.

7. Your text and AI output

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Owlkey to:

We may block AI edits for a subscription that is used in breach of this section.

9. Availability and changes to Owlkey

AI edits depend on your internet connection, our server and OpenAI, and may occasionally be slow or unavailable. We may change, add or remove presets, features and the AI models used, and may suspend or discontinue the service. If we discontinue AI edits permanently, we will stop offering new subscriptions.

10. Intellectual property

Owlkey, including its software, design, name and owl mascot, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by law. These Terms do not give you any rights to it beyond the licence in section 3. Apple, App Store, iPhone and iPad are trademarks of Apple Inc. OpenAI is a trademark of OpenAI.

11. Third-party services

Payments are handled by Apple and AI processing by OpenAI. Their own terms and policies govern their part of the service, and we are not responsible for their acts or omissions.

12. Disclaimer

Owlkey is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted operation, or the accuracy of any AI output, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, profits or reputation, arising from your use of Owlkey or of AI output. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for Owlkey Pro in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law or affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

14. Termination

You may stop using Owlkey at any time by removing the keyboard and deleting the app; an active subscription must be cancelled separately as described in section 4. We may end this licence if you materially breach these Terms.

15. Apple’s Standard EULA

Owlkey is licensed to you under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Standard EULA), which these Terms supplement. Where these Terms and the Standard EULA conflict on a point it covers, the Standard EULA prevails. Apple is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for Owlkey or its support.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The current version is always available at this address with its effective date at the top. Continuing to use Owlkey after an update takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.
